Our story
Nichol's Carpet Cleaning has been in business since 1985 — over forty years now. We first started cleaning carpets with large portable machines and a shampooing buffer. After about four years of that method, we bought a truck-mounted steam cleaner and that's when we learned that this is the only way to clean carpets. Trying to clean carpets with a portable rental unit is a joke.
Truck-mounted steam cleaners not only remove most stains, but it also kills 95% of bacteria. The vacuum portion of the unit makes carpet drying time much faster. Once the whole process is completed, your carpet will naturally smell better because the odor-causing bacteria has been removed.
That's the difference between a clean carpet and a great clean carpet — and it's why we've used the same equipment, the same standards, and the same approach for almost the entire history of the business.
What proper cleaning requires
In order to properly clean carpets and area rugs, you must have these four things:
- A large vacuum — for strong extraction, fast drying, and no residue.
- High water pressure — to push hot solution through carpet fibers and lift embedded dirt.
- Heat (at least 180 degrees or higher) — to dissolve grime and kill odor-causing bacteria.
- The best chemicals — pre-treatment, soap, and deodorizer matched to the fiber and the stain.
A rental store cleaner and a truck-mounted steam cleaner share a name and not much else. Rental units can't deliver any of those four. Truck-mounted is what we have.
How we work
All of our employees are fully trained. We use two men at each job. We move most furniture before cleaning any areas, and of course, we move it back when we're finished. That's part of the service — you don't have to clear the room out before we arrive.
