Introduction

Nichol's Carpet Cleaning ("we," "us," or "our") is a family-owned carpet cleaning, water damage, and home services company based in Mexia, Texas. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website at nicholscarpetcleaning.net, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our website or submit information to us. By using the site or sending us a request through it, you agree to the practices described here.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to visitors of nicholscarpetcleaning.net, anyone who fills out a form on our website, anyone who calls or texts us using contact information shown on the site, and anyone who emails us in response to information from the site. It does not cover third-party websites that we link to. If you click through to another site (for example, our Facebook page), that site has its own privacy practices.

Information we collect

We try to collect only the information we need to respond to your service request and operate the website. There are two ways information reaches us: information you give us directly, and information that is gathered automatically when any modern website is loaded.

Information you give us

When you fill out the contact or quote-request form on our site, we collect the fields you choose to fill in. This typically includes:

  • Your name โ€” so we know who we're talking to.
  • Phone number โ€” so we can call you back about your job.
  • Email address โ€” so we can confirm appointments or send a written estimate.
  • Service address or city โ€” so we know whether you're in our service area.
  • The service you're asking about โ€” carpet cleaning, water damage, upholstery, etc.
  • Anything you choose to type into the message box โ€” for example, the size of the room, a description of a stain, or a preferred date.

You decide what to share. You don't have to use the form at all โ€” you can call us at (254) 747-5879 instead.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, ours records some technical information when a page loads. This is handled by our hosting provider and our security plugin and typically includes the visitor's IP address, the type of browser and device, the page that was visited, the date and time of the visit, and the referring page. We use this information to keep the site running, to block attacks, and to understand which pages people actually read.

How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

  • Respond to your quote request, schedule the job, and follow up afterward.
  • Confirm appointments and send service-related messages.
  • Answer questions you've asked us in the message box.
  • Keep records of work performed for warranty, billing, and tax purposes.
  • Improve our website by understanding which pages and services visitors are most interested in.
  • Protect the website and our business from fraud, spam, and security threats.

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it. We do not give it to advertisers. We do not use it to send marketing emails unless you have asked us to. We will not share it with anyone outside our business except as described in the section below.

Third parties that help us run the website

We use a small number of standard tools to operate the site. Each one may receive limited information as part of doing its job:

  • Web hosting provider โ€” stores the website files and form submissions on a server. Standard server logs include IP addresses and timestamps.
  • WordPress contact form plugin (Contact Form 7 or WPForms) โ€” accepts what you type into the form and emails it to us. Form data may also be stored briefly in our website database.
  • Wordfence Security โ€” a website security plugin that monitors traffic to block hackers, brute-force attempts, and known bad IP addresses. It logs visitor IP addresses and request patterns for that purpose.
  • Rank Math SEO โ€” a search-engine-optimization plugin. It does not collect personal information from visitors.
  • Email provider โ€” when our website sends us your form submission, our email provider transmits and stores that email.
  • Google Maps โ€” if a map is embedded on a page (for example, on the service-area or contact page), Google may set its own cookies and receive your IP address per Google's own privacy policy.
  • Google Search Console / Bing Webmaster Tools โ€” we may receive aggregated, non-personal data about which search terms led people to our site.

We do not currently run any third-party advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or social-media tracking pixels on this website.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. We use cookies sparingly. The site may use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies set by WordPress and our security plugin to keep the site working and secure (for example, to remember that a form has already been submitted, or to flag suspicious activity).
  • Functional cookies if a third-party widget on the page (such as an embedded Google Map) sets them.

Most browsers let you refuse cookies, delete cookies that have already been set, or warn you before a cookie is stored. Refusing cookies should not prevent you from using our site, though some embedded features (like maps) may behave differently.

Phone calls and text messages

When you call (254) 747-5879, your phone number may be visible to us through caller ID, and we may save it in our customer records so we can return your call. We do not record calls. We do not share your phone number with marketers. We may send a text message in response to a request you've sent us โ€” and you can ask us to stop at any time.

How long we keep information

We keep customer records โ€” including names, addresses, phone numbers, and a description of work performed โ€” for as long as we have an active business relationship with you and for a reasonable period after, generally to comply with tax recordkeeping requirements and to honor warranty or follow-up service requests. Form submissions stored in the website database are kept long enough to respond and then periodically cleared. Server and security logs are typically rotated within a few weeks to a few months.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe:

  • The website runs over HTTPS, which encrypts traffic between your browser and our server.
  • The website is protected by a security plugin that blocks brute-force login attempts and known malicious IP addresses.
  • Access to the WordPress admin area is limited to authorized personnel and uses strong passwords.
  • The WordPress core, theme, and plugins are kept up to date.
  • Customer records are kept on devices and in accounts that are password-protected.

No website or business is one hundred percent secure. We can't promise that no breach will ever happen. We promise to take it seriously if it does, to follow applicable notification laws, and to fix the underlying problem.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what information we have about you โ€” we'll give you a plain-language summary.
  • Correct information that is wrong โ€” for example, an old phone number.
  • Delete your information โ€” except for records we are required to keep for tax or warranty reasons, or that we need to defend a legal claim.
  • Stop contacting you โ€” by phone, text, or email.

To make any of these requests, call us at (254) 747-5879 or use the contact form. We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request. We don't charge for reasonable requests.

If you are in California, Texas, or another state with a privacy law

Some states have additional rights, such as the right to know what categories of information are collected, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell information), or the right to receive your information in a portable format. If you live in one of these states and want to exercise a state-specific right, just contact us and tell us which right you'd like to exercise. We'll handle the request the same way.

Children's privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults who are arranging carpet cleaning or related home services. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us through this site, please contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Our website may link to other websites โ€” for example, our Facebook page, our hosting provider, or third-party reference material. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those websites. When you follow a link off our site, you are subject to the destination site's privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes to the website, the tools we use, or the law. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will note it briefly on the homepage or in our usual reply to form submissions for a reasonable period.
